Common NHS Interview Questions
Hello and welcome back to the HealthHireUK newsletter.
Today we are going to talk about common NHS interview questions.
Whilst most candidates are nervous about NHS interviews, this is actually an opportunity to show how your previous experience, makes you the best candidate for the role. With that in mind, here is how you can answer these three common NHS questions.
1. What do you know about the values of our trust/hospital?
This basic question is extremely popular. The interviewer is not only wanting to know that you know the values of the hospital, they want to know if you have done any research on the hospital before attending for the interview.
You can not only list the values of the trust/hospital, but you can use examples from your current role to show how you meet the values of the trust/hospital.
For example, common values include caring and respectful, give examples of how you have shown these values in your current role.
2. How do you stay organised and manage your time?
Working in the medical sector can be chaotic, you can be overworked, and learning to prioritise is key to succeeding in this high pressure environment.
Having worked in a similar environment, make sure to include examples of how you have dealt with similar challenges such as short staffing, difficult patients and emergencies and still managed to complete your tasks. Talk about how you have escalated issues, dealt with issues and delegated tasks
3. Give us an example of when you have worked well in a team?
Healthcare is a team industry, it relies on many people working together to help deliver the best outcomes for patients. You need to demonstrate how you are a great team player.
This is a great opportunity to talk about how you have worked with fellow colleagues to ensure you helped deliver great outcomes, regardless of industry.
